Mondo Babes was a short-run collaborative music project among Davis-based musicians. It was born out of group jams held between Monterey Babe Aquarium (John Brummley, Simi Sohota, and Roy Werner) and Mondo Lava (Leon Hu and James Ketchum) in 2011 and 2012. We performed a handful of shows, the biggest of which was at the Whole Earth Festival in Davis, California on May 12th, 2012. Additionally, Boris Freyman and Chris Preston joined in for this performance.

The Whole Earth Festival is a historic festival celebrated annually at UC Davis. It was first started by art professor and author José Argüelles, along with some of his students, in 1970 as an end-of-the-year project. José Argüelles would later go on to gain much fame as being one of the originators and greatest proponents of the Maya 2012 New Age movement.
